DAA Coming to Chicago – AAPD Annual Session

The Dental Accounting Association is heading to American Association of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) Annual in Chicago May 24-26th.  This is the 72nd Annual Session for Pediatric Dentistry and expected to attract over 6,000 pediatric dentists.

If you are planning to attend, please visit us in booth # 718 at the Chicago Hilton.  We will be located right across from our friends at Bentson & Copple.

Chicago Boat CruiseOn May 23rd, the Dental Accounting Association will meet as a group in our one day summit.  This is our fourth annual summit and participation grows each year.  Each year at one of the major dental trade shows (e.g., ADA Annual, AAO Annual, AAPD, etc.), we meet as a group for a full day of topics.  On Thursday evening, we will let off some steam with a boat tour along the Chicago River and get a chance to learn about the stories behind more than 50 buildings and how Chicago grew from a small settlement into one of the world’s largest city.

For this year’s event, we are welcoming three new members into our association bringing our membership up to fourteen members nationwide.  Our newest members are:

The Dental Accounting Association is comprised of independently owned CPA Firms that are dedicated to the accounting industry.  All members are licensed CPA Firms and we cover all fifty states.  We are the only Dental CPA’s focused on tax coaching and participates as a collaborative group at the major dental shows.

Dental CPA Summit – Washington DC – May 2018

To drill deeper into the dental industry, the Dental Accounting Association members will be travelling to Washington DC for an in-depth series of presentations and round table discussions.  The 3rd Annual Dental CPA Summit will commence on May 4, 2018 and precede the AAO Annual.

Z - S GunnOur morning speaking will be Susan Gunn.  Susan is a nationally recognized speaker and author of 39 books.  Her background in criminology in conjunction with expertise on embezzlement within medical practices will be the topic of discussion.  Susan’s unique qualifications include being a Certified Fraud Examiner, author of many QuickBooks books, and co-authoring ADA publications on dental financial best practices.

Susan has been recognized by Dentistry Today as a Leader in Consulting every year since 2005.  The American Dental Association recognized Susan as a Financial Matter Expert in 2015 and she has since been appointed as an ADA Consultant to the Council.

Our afternoon speaker will be Christian Pearson, National Director of Dental Partnerships for Treloar & Z - Christian PearsonHeisel.

Treloar & Heisel is the largest specialty advisor for dental specialists covering disability, professional liability, and wealth management services for over 16,000 dental specialists and has been operating since 1959.  Treloar & Heisel works directly nearly every dental specialty association ranging from the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry to American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons and many others.

 

Dental Accounting Association

The Dental Accounting Association is a network of CPA Firms located in North America working collectively to provide best in class tax coaching, accounting and dental practice coaching to dentists.  Our primary focus is on minimizing taxes and closely followed by profit improvement coaching.

And like most dental practices, the Dental Accounting Association members are sole practitioners.  And, we are not distracted with investment (retirement savings programs) and dental brokerage services like the larger dental CPA Firms.

Each member of the Dental Accounting Association is still accepting dental clients and offers fixed fee billing, so you don’t have to worry about hourly billing.

DAA Picture - 2017Eleven Dental CPA’s traveled to San Diego for the American Association of Orthodontists Annual in beautiful San Diego.  Considering that the AAO Show was just days after tax season concluded, we accomplished lots of ground on ways to improve our back office systems and enhanced marketing techniques.

Future enhancements and shared best practices were free flowing after a long busy season.

 

Dental CPA Summit in San Diego

Immediately after tax season concluded on April 18th, Dental CPA’s departed to sunny San Diego for a full day of meetings on April 21st.  Yes, it was pretty much a full day inside but ended on a high note.

P WoodAll in all, eleven member firms of the Dental Accounting Association attended the Dental CPA Summit.  The keynote speaker was Patrick Wood, founder of Wood & Delgado Law.  Patrick delivered a wonderful presentation titled “The Business Side of Dentistry” covering dental practice valuations techniques, lender red flags, emerging DSO’s, legal frameworks of DSO’s, and the impact on practice valuations.  Then, Patrick provided a series of insights into the emerging trends impacting the dental industry.

The other topics covered at the session were dental practice benchmarking and dental practice profit coaching systems being used by the Dental Accounting Association.

Bank of AmericaTo complete the Dental CPA Summit, Bank of America Practice Solutions covered a variety of initiatives and insights for the group.

After the Dental CPA Summit, the Dental Accounting Association participated in the AAO Annual show with over 15,000 attending orthodontists.
