Southern Assoc of Orthodontists – Tampa FL

Southern OrthosThe Dental Accounting Association will be heading to Tampa on October 5 – 8, 2017 to join orthodontists attending the SAO 2017 show.

The show is expected to draw 1,700 orthodontists located from Virginia down to Florida.

The Dental Accounting Association will have a booth for attending orthodontists.  Our booth will be staffed by Dental CPA’s located in Florida and Georgia.

Females in Dentistry – Becoming the NEW Norm

The once male-dominated dentistry industry is quickly shifting towards a female-dominated industry.  Here are the numbers backing up this eventuality.

  • 60% of practicing dentists under the age of 44 are women
  • Percentage of females enrolling in US dental schools is nearly 50/50

Z - Females in DentistryAccording to The Dental Geek, the majority of practicing dentists will be women in 2020, just three years away.

And while most of these new entrants into dental practices are in group dental practices, eventually they will migrate over to the solo practices as well.

 

How Millennials Are Changing Dental Practice Dynamics

Millennials are changing the landscape within today’s dental practice.  Relative to older clientele, Millennials are willing to search for better options, make more informed decisions and looking online for choices.  This makes them more discerning than older customers and harder to please.

To protect yourself and overcome some of their concerns, a savvy dentist will invest in online reputation management given that Millennials will be looking online before booking an appointment.

Dental School Student Debt Relief Program – $120,000

Dental school graduates carry higher and higher levels of debt.  For those willing to give back to underserved communities, the National Health Service (NHSC) has a new program offering up to $120,000.

The Students to Service Program offers up to $120,000 to dental and medical students in their final year of school in return for a commitment to provide care full time for at least 3 years at an approved NHSC site in a Health Professional Shortage Area of greatest need.  Applications will be accepted until October 19th.

Applicants must be US citizens or nationals pursuing a DDS or DMD degree full time at a dental school accredited by the ADA Commission on Dental Accreditation in the United States or its territories. They also must be eligible for federal employment. Applicants are encouraged, but not required, to complete accredited postgraduate training in an NHSC-approved specialty, such as general dentistry, pediatrics, public health, or geriatrics.

Bentson Copple & Associates provides orthodontic practice valuation, transition, and search services.  Bentson Copple was established in 2004.  In 2006, reSource was launched as a newsletter publication and now reaches 1,900 orthodontists in North America.  And over the past few years, Bentson Copple has grown aggressively providing independent valuation, transition and doctor search services.

The roots of Bentson Copple are built around Chris Bentson’s leadership as the Editor-in-Chief.  He has personally visited over 1,000 orthodontic practices in North America and is a prominent Board Member (AAOFTT, Ortho 4D, AAOF, etc.).
